Six Wellness and Beauty Routines You Should Think About Adopting

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of research about natural remedies and beauty routines. While I’ve been health-conscious for a long time, I’m always learning and adding new things to my health routine. Here are some new discoveries, as well as some of my old favourites!

1. Smoothies For Breakfast

A lot of blueberries
OJ
(1) Tsp Maca Powder
(1/2) Tsp Tumeric
(2) Tsp Coconut Oil
(3) Tsp Chia Seeds
(1) Scoops Trader Joe’s Super Green Drink

This is the smoothie I make every morning. It is packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants. The coconut oil gives me an extra energy boost. 🙂

BENEFITS

Maca Powder:

  • Curcumin, one of the main active ingredients in the spice, protects the body against fluoride.
  • Supports healthy joint function
  • Helps promote radiant skin!
  • Improves digestion
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Aids in digestion
  • Helps keep cholesterol at a normal level
  • Helps promote healthy blood and liver function
  • Rich in anti-oxidants.

2. Tibetan Coffee in the AM

Fairtrade organic coffee
1.5 tsp grass-fed butter
1 tsp coconut oil
Blend in a blender

The benefits of this are still fairly controversial, but from my own experience, this has actually been a really great addition to my morning routine. The healthy fats are good for your brain, and help kick-start fat burning.

3. DIY Face Mask

1/4 banana
a bit of lemon juice
1/4 tsp tumeric
1/2 tsp baking soda
BENEFITS:
Bananas have Potassium which moisturises skin, Lectins which fight bacteria/acne, Vitamin A which fades dark spots and blemishes, and reduces appearance of scars. They also have Vitamin B which lightens skin tone, reduces appearance of wrinkles, and prevents ageing, Vitamin E which fights free radical damage, bolsters the skin’s UV resistance, and prevents and reduces appearance of wrinkles.

Lemons have antibacterial properties that help fight acne, and fight against blackheads, they brighten skin tone, and exfoliate by removing dead skin cells.

Baking Soda is amphoteric which means it can act as basic or acidic. It helps to level the natural pH of the skin which helps fight against acne. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties, mild antiseptic properties, and removes oil.

Turmeric helps fight acne, helps eliminate blackheads, heals and prevents dry skin, slows the ageing process, and helps restore skin elasticity.

4. Rose Ice Morning Facial

Boil water and put fresh rose petals in a tea cup, pour in and let steep until cooled. Pour water and petals into an ice tray, let freeze.

BENEFITS:

Ice increases circulation and and tones. Rose is good for skin rejuvenation.

After washing your face in the morning, rub a rose ice cube all over the face. Do not dry, but dab your face with a dry hand towel just enough so that the face is still moist and allow the skin to absorb the rest.

5. Apply Sea Buckthorn Oil to Face

Use sea buckthorn oil in place of a face moisturiser. I really cannot express how much I love this stuff. It leaves your skin glowing and soft.

BENEFITS:

Sea buckthorn oil is abundant in vitamins A, C, E, contains omega 3 and 6, and 7 (which aids in cell regeneration). It helps restore elasticity and moisture to the skin, combats against signs of ageing, heals wounds and helps diminish scars, and is a great remedy for rosacea. It is also great for treating acne as it is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
